From the Staging Lanes...
Competitive by nature, Eli Wiggins was one of the first six-year-old racers to be licensed in the NHRA Junior Drag Racing League. Eli enjoyed many successes in his 2015 rookie season – including winning his first race, finishing as runner up in the Midwest Junior Super Series 13.90 Index Class, being among the first class of six-year-old drivers to compete in the NHRA Eastern Conference Finals and being named "Rookie of the Year" by Beech Bend Raceway Park. Having moved into the more competitive 11.90 Index Class this year, Eli hasn't shown any signs of slowing down -- literally. He is undoubtedly a trailblazer.
Looking ahead, Eli has set his sights on winning a Midwest Junior Super Series Championship, an NHRA Division Championship and a NHRA Wally – hopefully at the Eastern Conference Finals.
Racing is in Eli’s blood. He comes from a long line of racers, including his dad Trevor and older brother Grady. Plus, cousins Cody, Cydnie, Holli, Ami, and Shelbi were all accomplished junior drag racers in their day. Cody and Cydnie doing well in "big cars" today. The "Wiggins" name is well-known throughout motorsports, not just drag racing.
In addition to junior drag racing, Eli enjoys all types of motorsports – from putting down some laps in his quarter midget to tearing up the field on his dirt bike. Of course, not a day goes by without competing with his older brother Grady in something – even if it’s racing hot wheels.
